Kaywana Hall
An iconic butterfly wing building designed by architect Mervyn Seal, this 60s icon is nestled in the woods in Devon, just a stone’s throw away from the sea. Kaywana Hall has been sensitively updated by its present owners who run it as a luxury boutique hotel and B&B.
We had the great pleasure to be working on the latest addition to the property, designing the landscape and garden around a new guest house. The space is set out to provide areas for dining, relaxation and entertainment. The design includes a sleek natural stone terrace surrounded by coastal planting interspersed with boulders sourced locally from Dartmoor, to create a contrast with the contemporary styling of the hard landscaping and tie the garden into the local landscape. Structural shrub planting include clipped mounds of rosemary and low growing pines. A glade of silver birch trees help the new building merge into the surrounding woodland.
