Highgate garden
Clean lines and a restrained palette of materials define this elegant North London Garden. The brief from the clients was to create a space that complements the contemporary architecture of their new home, whilst also being a garden to relax and entertain in. The garden must become the ‘best painting in the house’ when viewed from the full width glass elevation of the ground floor. A still reflective pool with a single stepping stone leads to a seating area complete with a corten steel fire bowl, a perfect space to enjoy a crisp glass of wine with family and friends. Dark grey clay paving bricks bring a textural contrast to the sawn limestone on the terrace and water feature coping surround. A generous lawn and island bed lead to a secondary seating area at the back of the garden tucked under the canopy of a pergola. Clipped Yew topiary domes provide evergreen structure to the planting palette and mature, multi stem trees add height and maturity.
