This grade II listed 19th century Italianate Villa boasts 11 acres of gardens and parkland. The client wanted a new landscape treatment to the garden around the house that was sympathetic to the architecture of the building, whilst also introducing a more contemporary air in places. A series of terraces lead you through this space, with areas for outdoor dining or a quiet drink, enjoying views across the rest of the estate. A reflective pool commands the central space of one terrace, with clipped blocks of Yew hedging and an as quarried boulder bench providing a more contemporary feel to the space, whilst still being in keeping with the Italianate styling of the house. A new swimming pool and pool house is being constructed away from the house, which called for crisp, sawn York stone paving, a sunken seating area, outdoor fireplace and pergola. For the wider estate plans include an orchard, woodland garden and wildflower meadows.
